Penetrating Damp & Water Ingress
Rain getting in sideways. Penetrating damp is moisture forcing its way through the fabric of the building, through weathered pointing, porous brick, failed flashings or blocked gutters, and on the Merseyside coast the weather gives it plenty of chances.

A wall that never feels dry to the touch and makes the room hard to heat.
Why Penetrating Damp Happens
Penetrating damp occurs when rainwater enters through defects in the external fabric of a property. Common causes include weathered mortar joints, porous brickwork, cracked render, leaking gutters, failed sealants and defective flashings.
Older solid-wall properties and exposed west-facing elevations across Liverpool, Southport and the North West can be particularly vulnerable to wind-driven rain.
Effective treatment starts by finding and repairing the source of the water before any damp-proofing or internal remedial work is carried out.
How we fix it, properly.
Repair the route in
We trace the defect and fix it first: repointing weathered joints with the right finish, repairing render, clearing and correcting gutters and downpipes, and re-dressing failed details.

Breathable water repellent protection
Once the wall is sound, a colourless silane and siloxane treatment is applied to the masonry. It penetrates the surface and lines the pores, helping rainwater bead and run off while allowing the wall to remain breathable.
The treatment is invisible once applied and can provide up to 25 years of water-repellent protection.

Rendering, done properly
Where an elevation needs more than a repellent, we render and waterproof it professionally, including breathable lime render for homes built before 1920.
