What Is Dry Rot?
Understanding the Risks of Dry Rot
Dry rot is a destructive timber fungus that spreads rapidly in damp, poorly ventilated environments. It breaks down the structure of wood, causing serious damage to floors, joists, and even walls.
If untreated, dry rot can weaken the integrity of your home and lead to costly repairs.

A damp-proof course is a process that involves removing the damp plaster, injecting a silicone damp-proof cream into the wall to form a waterproof barrier in the brickwork, applying a salt neutraliser and then mechanically fixing a membrane to the wall. This process is most often used for rising damp and is the most effective way to tackle rising damp. The products we use offer a 10 year indemnity (subject to conditions).
For traditional homes we an offer a breathable Lime Render coating which allows the walls to breath and expel moisture. Ideal for farmhouses and properties over 100 years old.

Having issues with water ingress in your walls? We can offer a brick waterproof treatment, which gives the wall up to 30 years of damp protection. The colourless waterproof solution is breathable and turns the surface water-resistant, to help prevent penetrating damp.
Our waterproofing system is based on carefully selected silanes and siloxanes which line the pores of the masonry to form a water-repellent silicone matrix. Because it works by lining the pores rather than blocking them the masonry is allowed to breathe and does not suffer from increased frost damage (spalling). Due to its novel formulation and deep penetration, it is resistant to UV light and other forms of degradation, resulting in a life expectancy of 20 – 30 years.
Condensation is a fast-growing problem: it’s estimated that one in five houses in the UK is poorly ventilated and at risk of streaming windows, mould growth and poor indoor air quality. The average family produces up to 10 litres of water daily through simple everyday tasks such as cooking, washing, bathing and drying clothes indoors.
New and modern homes are at risk of condensation: poorly heated homes are prone to condensation dampness. In contrast, well-insulated homes with double glazing or insulation can trap moist air inside the house. When it comes to curing damp and condensation, PIV is the most cost-effective whole home system in the market today: that’s why it’s trusted by so many homeowners and landlords across the UK.
The cost of running a PIV unit can be as little as 1p a day to keep your home fresh and dry.
Condensation is the process that induces water vapour in the air to turn into liquid.
Condensation occurs when water condenses on a cold surface, such as an external wall.
Mould can then form on the wall and you will see the black spores spread.
Black mould is often a result of condensation. When warm moist air comes into contact with a surface at a lower temperature, the moisture condenses onto it. After a while, mould will start to grow on the surface.
We offer a Mould Sterilisation treatment to remove this harmful mould. We can then advise you on how to prevent the mould from occurring again.
This will include advice on lifestyle changes in your home by introducing better ventilation around the property by installing humidity-controlled extractors and Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) units.
We also offer a Thermocoat warm wall paint system, which actually makes the wall slightly warmer and prevents dew points from forming.

Mortar joints in walls are important to not only keep your brickwork together but to keep the wet weather from penetrating the inside of your property.
Joints in poor condition will allow damp penetration by water ingress. This not only ruins your decor, but will lead to damp issues and eventually timber rot. We can repoint your walls in either Flush, Bucket handle, Weather struck, or Recessed joints and make them weatherproof and look good again.

Damp in your home is a source of stress and worry for a lot of homeowners and it is not always apparent why it is happening. The report will give detailed likely causes of mould or damp, and offer solutions to eradicate the issues you have faced.
